Jim doesn't claim to be a Paramount expert, but he is a huge fan of this exotic bicycle. Of his almost 50 bicycle collection, the orange P15-9 shown below is Jim's absolute personal favorite. |

Jim's 1972 Schwinn Paramount P15-9 touring model. In Kool Orange color. Reynolds 531 "Double Butted" tubing frame with Nervex lugs. Campagnolo drop-outs with eyelets for rack mounting. Campagnolo Nuovo Record front derailleur, Campagnolo Gran Turismo rear derailleur. Weinmann center-pull touring brakes. Cinelli handlebars and stem. Campagnolo record seat post.

Jim purchased this bicycle in September 1995 from an advertisement in the Local Lafayette Indiana newspaper for a matching pair of these bicycles. Jim is the second owner of this 24" (61cm) frame size Paramount. It has a matching sibling (shown below) in a 22" frame size. These two Paramounts were a custom ordered matching husband and wife pair that were purchased new in Lancaster Pennsylvania in November of 1972.

Jim has upgraded this bike with 700C wheels with sealed bearing hubs and six speed rear cluster. Jim is using Bontrager Hard-case tires in size 700Cx25 and 100 psi. With the six speed rear cluster and the triple chain-ring Campagnolo Record front crank-set, Jim now has a total number of 18 speeds. The seat is a 1990s Schwinn accessory known as the "Stinger". Upgrades to the brakes are longer pads for extra stopping power and new cables. |
The Kool Orange paint is original and almost perfect. (Originally equipped with Campagnolo Record large flange 36 spoke hubs, Weinmann 27" clincher rims and a Brooks Professional saddle.)

Jim purchased this bicycle in July 1998 at a Yard Sale in West Lafayette Indiana. Jim is the second owner of this 24" frame size (61cm) Paramount. This never restored pristine condition 1973 P10-9 Schwinn Paramount is rolling art, hand made at the race shops at the Schwinn factory on Chicago's Kostner Avenue. |

The handlebar-end mounted shifters are a period accessory from the "Suntour" company. The bicycle was originally equipped with Campagnolo Record downtube shifters.
